More about La Bella

La Bella Strings, originating in the 17th-century Italian town of Salle, boasts a rich history and an esteemed place in the world of music. The Mari family, known for their exceptional gut strings used by legendary instrument makers Amati and Stradivari, eventually expanded their business to include steel strings as well. In pursuit of new opportunities, brothers Emilio and Olinto Mari relocated to New York City, where they continued to produce high-quality, hand-made strings that garnered a loyal following among local musicians.

By 1914, the brothers opened their first factory on Fifth Avenue, later expanding to their native Abruzzi region in Italy to meet growing demand in the US and Europe. The La Bella brand was officially trademarked in 1920 and became the flagship brand of their parent company, E. & O. Mari, Inc. After several relocations, the company settled in Newburgh, New York, in 1981, where it remains the sole manufacturing site for La Bella strings.

As the oldest incorporated, continuously family-owned and operated music string manufacturer in the world, La Bella continues to prioritize quality and dedication to their craft. The company sponsors various music events and initiatives, reinforcing their commitment to the arts and music education. For musicians seeking exceptional strings with a storied history, La Bella remains a top choice.
