For being a little one-knobber the Bows wears many hats. Right out of the box it's got several tone shaping abilities spread between two modes: Full and Treble. Full mode is warm with a lot of body and low end. Treble mode is a resonant, treble booster with a “cocked wah” tone that can drive any tube amp into harmonic rich distortion territory. Each mode has a little bit of grit to start with, but as you get passed 12 o'clock on either setting their subtleties are accented. The vowel-like sound out of the Treble side will be more prevalent as you bring the Level up. Doing the same on Full mode will get you a nice, full bodied crunch tone that retains clarity. Place any drive pedal before the Bows and it's another story. Full mode turns a dirt signal into a crumbling wall of sonic chaos, while Treble mode becomes an ultimate lead tone. Each and every Bows is built one at a time by real life human beans in the temperature controlled bubble of Akron, Ohio.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis device is true bypass and uses relay based “soft touch” switching. Primarily playing a cranked Deluxe Reverb and depending on his guitar’s volume control for much of his dynamics, the pedal had to respond like an amp as well as feel like it was an extension of his amp. This is how the Ruby Red was created.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLooking at the pedal, you see four knobs, two toggle switches, and two footswitches. Let's break down the function of each. The left side of the pedal is our \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.jhspedals.com\/products\/guitar-pedals\/superbolt\/\"\u003eSuperBolt\u003c\/a\u003e overdrive. With a volume, tone, and drive control that let’s you shape it as you desire. The Volume is a standard master volume, and it lets you cut or boost the overall output level of the effect. The Tone control gives you the ability to brighten or darken the overall tone of the circuit, and the Drive control is the amount of dirt created inside the circuit. The left toggle switch \"+\" adds more sag, compression, and gain to the circuit when desired and the left footswitch is the on\/off switch for the SuperBolt giving you True Bypass operation of the effect. The right side of the pedal is a custom two-stage boost circuit that is perfect for slamming the front end of the SuperBolt or hitting your amp and creating natural breakup. The far right Boost knob controls the overall amount of boost in the circuit. The right toggle is an \"order toggle\" that lets you choose the order of the two effects (SuperBolt \u0026gt; Boost or Boost \u0026gt; SuperBolt) for personal preference and versatility.
