This is a Pre-CBS era 1963 Fender Stratocaster in 3 Tone Sunburst in excellent+ condition with tags and the original hard-shell case.
This is an excellent+ example of an amazing Pre-CBS Fender Stratocaster. The neck is dated October 1963 (2OCT63B) and topped with the smaller headstock and a “spaghetti logo”. At this time Fender was using a rosewood veneer, switching over from a slab fingerboard. The inlays are clay dots which were standard at the time. The nitrocellulose lacquer is still intact on the maple neck and virtually shows no wear. Plenty of life in the frets and no fretboard wear at all. The serial L02275 is stamped right on the neckplate.
The body is made of Alder and sprayed in its original 3 color sunburst from the factory with some light checking and very minor wear. Little bit of “case bite” on the lower part of the guitar and a small ding on the upper horn. Underneath the mint green pickguard, we have the original 3 single coil pickups with cloth wiring and 3-way switch. All of the pots are dated to the 15th week of 1963 (304-6315).
This guitar comes with the original tan hard-shell case with plush orange interior. Also included are the original hangtags, tremolo arm, polish cloth, springs and ashtray.
This is simply one of the best and cleanest vintage Stratocasters out there from the most desirable era in Fender’s history. Everything on this guitar is original and has had no alterations or repairs. This is a true closet classic.
