gibson-southern-jumbo-40s-original-acoustic-guitar-vintage-sunburst
Gibson Southern Jumbo 40s Original HiFi Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst

From the "Banner Year" of 1942, this classic large-scaled acoustic gets a loving revival with the Gibson Southern Jumbo 40s Original! Though never reaching the highs of its J-45 and Hummingbird siblings, the Southern Jumbo has certainly gained a reputation of its own among round-shoulder flat-tops. This Original series model receives a thoroughly modern celebration with great features all the way down.

In the Original series, Gibson's round-shoulder classic gets the red carpet treatment. Everything starts with Gibson's round-shoulder dreadnought shape brought together from solid Sitka spruce and rosewood. These quality, resonant, highly musical tonewoods serve as a solid foundation on which the rest of this Original series entry builds. Aesthetically, a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish wraps this body up with a shady Vintage Sunburst color. Multi-ply top and back binding additionally lines the Jumbo body for a clean, neat accent.

Reaching out, this Southern Jumbo welcomes a mahogany neck in a SlimTaper profile. This slimmer, comfortable neck shape ensures smooth moves from lower to higher registers. Dovetail neck joint assembly brings the neck to the body for a solid transfer of motion and resonance. A rosewood fingerboard matches with this mahogany neck lined with twenty Standard frets for a clean balance of spaciousness and articulation. Mother of Pearl Split Parallelogram inlays appear across the lush rosewood for an impressive aesthetic element.

Fully, this Original series model ups the ante on the Southern Jumbo experience with a number of great, smaller features. At the base of the scale, a Belly Down rosewood bridge lands with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins for sturdy intonation. Moving toward the headstock, a bone nut and Grover Open Back tuning machines appear to make for smooth stringing and match the bridge's sturdiness. This precise musical experience is translated in full via Gibson's exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA preamp and pickup electronics system and, whether you're going to the stage or studio, an included Gibson hardshell case accompanies.

An Original series celebrating the Southern Jumbo's knockout first years, this Gibson classic commands a room today as it has for generations.

Gibson Original series Southern Jumbo made in Bozeman, Montana

Gibson J-45 round-shoulder dreadnought body shape

Sitka spruce top and rosewood back and sides with multi-ply binding

Mahogany neck in Round profile

Compound dovetail neck assembly

Rosewood fingerboard with Mother of Pearl inlays

Rosewood bridge with bone saddle

Bone nut and Grover Open Back tuning machines

Exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA preamp and pickup electronics

Gibson hardshell case included

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1210/3886/files/OCRSSJ40HFVS-gibson-southern-jumbo-40s-original-acoustic-guitar-vintage-sunburst-1.png?v=1791474191
https://www.russomusic.com/products/gibson-southern-jumbo-40s-original-acoustic-guitar-vintage-sunburst
