Description
Entering exciting, new musical frontiers, we're met with the sweetly sparkling sounds of the Taylor Guitars Somos Collection 150ce Doce Doble. The Somos Collection, a lineup of models that focus on the sounds of Mexican guitar music local to Taylor's Southern Californian roots, assembles with a number of instruments like the Doce Doble – a twelve-string acoustic guitar that easily hits the highs of classic Taylor design and authentic Latin music tradition.
The Taylor 150ce Doce Doble takes on new musical horizons with reliable Taylor guitar design specifications. Establishing itself with a Taylor dreadnought body shape brought together by layered sapele and torrefied spruce. The layered sapele is matched by Taylor's torrefied spruce top for an exceptional tonal engine that drives the whole experience forward. Torrefaction, a process through which tonewoods are heat-treated to impart some of the lived-in, well-worn character of much older woods, lands with this guitar's spruce top for added harmonic complexity and a confident first step forward.
Within, the Taylor 150ce Doce Doble features Taylor's C-Class bracing pattern. C-Class bracing, a cantilevered spin on Taylor's innovative V-Class bracing pattern, balances out the tonal profile of this guitar while increasing projection and volume. This guitar's C-Class bracing pattern also works to accommodate the string tension brought on by the double-course stringing of the model. The Doce Doble's twelve-string setup, strung in unison, effortlessly serves the needs of regional Mexican and Latin music in addition to other genres that could delight in indulging in a rich, chorus-like texture.
The model's mahogany neck assumes a slender Taylor-designed profile and matches with an ebony fingerboard as it facilitates easy moves from lower to higher registers. Taylor's essential aesthetic choices also manifest across the model with a natural matte finish and black body binding. Onboard, Taylor Expression System 2 electronics translate the sweet, robust sounds of the Doce Doble to the stage while an included Taylor gig bag protects while traveling.
In Spanish, "somos" means "we are." Calling upon themes of identity and unity, the Somos Collection 150ce Doce Doble reflects upon Taylor's pride in its status as a binationally-operating company and musical community.
