Description

You might know Billy Strings from his time in the modern bluegrass limelight, if you don't, the Martin D-28 Billy Strings is an excellent place to get acquainted. Strings, one of modern music's boldest and brightest, has been known to use a 1940 Martin D-28. Translating elements of that original dreadnought into a design equal parts old and new, the D-28 Billy Strings is a marvel for modern bluegrass players.

For bluegrass players partial to older Martin designs, the D-28 Billy Strings is heaven-sent. Strings' original pre-war dreadnought served as the basis for this acoustic, making it a truly vintage-inspired instrument. The whole experience starts with a D-14 dreadnought body shaped with a spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides. This body is treated to a gloss finish, antique white binding and an antique toner color, giving it an overall lived-in and experienced look. Tonally, these woods play with a rich and warm voice perfect for the folksy sound Strings plays with.

This dreadnought compounds on its individuality with a twenty-five-inch scale length. Shorter than your usual, this scale enables the fast playing and slinky tension Strings' bluegrass chops are known for. Playability and speediness are enhanced by this Martin's Golden Era (GE) scalloped forward-shifted X-Bracing. Inspiring expressive playing across this guitar's balanced and lively voice, the smaller elements compile for a totally knockout instrument. A satin-finished genuine mahogany neck in a Modified Low Oval profile slips easily into grip while an ebony fingerboard bears twenty frets with abalone diamond inlays lays out the fretting experience comfortably. This signature Martin travels with an included Martin hardshell case.

There's quite a bit to the artist known as Billy Strings. A virtuosic talent on six strings, his signature Martin acoustic balances the ideals of vintage craftsmanship and modern playability. Were there ever a player needed to fill the archetype of modern bluegrass maestro, it's Billy. Take up this signature Martin and start riffing with some of that similar mojo.
