PRS Limited Edition Black Limba S2 Vela Electric Guitar, Natural Smokeburst

We’ll always have a soft spot for a stunning glossy finish, and boy do we love a natural satin-finish as well. So, you can imagine our excitement when PRS announced that its beloved offset-style S2 Vela was joining the brand’s exclusive Wood Library lineup with a stellar Natural Smokeburst finish. Crafted from beautiful Black Limba, each guitar boasts its own distinctive grain pattern, making every example a one-of-a-kind statement of tone, craftsmanship, and PRS heritage. Limited in availability and rich in character, this S2 Vela is a natural-born standout.

At the heart of this special edition is a striking Black Limba body, shaped into the Vela’s unmistakable offset silhouette and finished in smooth satin Natural Smokeburst, showcasing a black edge that slowly engulfs the woods beautiful grain. A sleek black pickguard adds a touch of understated attitude, complementing the warm, resonant character of the body with effortless style. The result is a guitar that looks as good as it sounds, with a versatile tonal foundation ready to tackle everything from sparkling cleans to gritty, genre-hopping crunch. Up top, a satin-finished maple neck pairs with an East Indian rosewood fingerboard for a familiar yet undeniably refined playing experience. True to PRS form, the feel is comfortable, intuitive, and built to inspire hours of uninterrupted playing.

Of course, no Vela would be complete without its distinctive pickup combination—and this one delivers in spades. A PRS DS-01 humbucker at the bridge serves up crisp, articulate tones with plenty of bite and high-end sparkle, transitioning effortlessly from glassy cleans to punchy, harmonically rich overdrive. In the neck position, a PRS Narrowfield humbucker brings a fuller, meatier voice to the mix, adding warmth and body while maintaining the clarity that makes this pairing so compelling. Combine the two in the middle position, and you’ve got a beautifully balanced blend of definition, depth, and character. Straightforward volume and tone controls keep things refreshingly intuitive, while a push/pull tone knob unlocks coil-tap functionality for even greater tonal flexibility. No unnecessary fuss—just a thoughtfully designed control layout that puts a world of sounds right at your fingertips.

Finished off with a PRS-branded gig bag for convenient transport and added protection, this limited-edition S2 Vela is ready to hit the road and make its mark. With distinctive Black Limba grain, signature PRS playability, and a pickup configuration that punches well above its weight, it’s a guitar that delivers serious personality from every angle. Whether it’s destined for the studio, the stage, or your ever-growing collection, this Wood Library Vela proves that sometimes, the most captivating finish is the one nature created herself.
