Epiphone '63 Les Paul SG Custom Electric Guitar w/Maestro Vibrola, Classic White

This Epiphone '63 Les Paul SG Custom is a recreation of an early iteration of the iconic SG model made in collaboration with Gibson, and features a Maestro Vibrola tailpiece, and other premium appointments. The first Gibson SG was launched officially in 1961, close to a decade after the Les Paul. These models were initially referred to as Les Paul SG, or "Solid Guitar" models, until 1963, due to their body construction using solid mahogany. 

Like their original counterparts, these Epiphone Les Paul SG Customs are built with a body of two-piece mahogany, and boast a solid, one-piece mahogany neck. The neck, which is carved to a cozy SlimTaper profile, features a long tenon and is topped with a bound ebony fingerboard, divided by 22 frets. Mother-of-Pearl Block inlays are nestled into the fingerboard between frets, and atop the neck, this guitar features a classic Gibson "Open Book" headstock with Grover Rotomatic 18:1 tuning machines, as well as a beautiful inlay.

As the "Custom" moniker implies, this Epiphone '63 Les Paul SG comes stocked with three Gibson Custombuckers, adding a new layer of versatility to an already notoriously versatile guitar. Hand wired, these pickups offer Gibson's take on vintage tone in a more affordable package, and are controlled by CTS pots and Mallory caps, as well as a Switchcraft pickup selector.

This guitar is special in the hardware department, featuring a Maestro Vibrola tailpiece. 1963 was the first year of the inclusion of this piece of hardware, and a game-changer for the audience that the guitar was marketed to. Right next to the tailpiece lives a Tune-O-Matic bridge, assisting with intonation. 

This guitar boasts an elegant, simple finish although the rest of the guitar is anything but simple. Its VOS (Vintage Original Sheen) Classic White is a reminder that the zest of guitars doesn't always have to come from their finish. A black hardshell case with a goldenrod interior, gold hardware and an "Inspired by Gibson" logo is included with purchase.
