Paying tribute to famous musicians and their many stories with Fender guitars, the Fender Stories Collection is a line dedicated to the years the brand's most famous players have put in with their guitars. Campbell originally bought his red Telecaster from a former Floridian guitar student already equipped with a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece and an onboard boost circuit. The Stories Collection Mike Campbell Red Dog Telecaster begins with an alder body shaped in the classic single-cutaway Tele form. This body is treated to a distinct Fender Heirloom nitrocellulose lacquer "Red Dog Red" finish, replicating much of the road wear the Tele has been treated to since its initial introduction with the Heartbreakers.

From here, this body reaches out with a one-piece maple neck shaped in a '70s "C" profile, also treated to the Heirloom finish. This neck connects with that distinctly '70s Fender feel for a profile authentic to the era. Filling out to its fingerboard, the neck matches with a round 7.25" fingerboard radius. Perfect for Campbell's energetic lead licks, this authentically vintage radius enables players to play with the same feel the Heartbreakers were known for.

Sure to be the true heartbreaker of this model, the Red Dog Telecaster is fitted with three custom Fender pickups. Two Mike Campbell Red Dog Humbucker pickups take the neck and middle positions while a Mike Campbell Red Dog Telecaster single-coil occupies the bridge position. These bright and fiery pickups offer a great palette with which to sonically paint, only enhanced by the Tele's onboard "Destruct" boost circuit, which pushes these pickups over the edge all by themselves. Up to thirty-four decibels of gain are on tap with this Telecaster, so play boldly!

Onboard, this vintage-style Telecaster is equipped with a suite of fine hardware specifications. Prominently, this Tele is fitted with a Bigsby B5 vibrato bridge and tailpiece designed for working expressive pitch bends in playing. Ensuring tuning accuracy and stability, this bridge is matched with Fender Vintage "F"-stamped tuning machines and a bone nut at the scale's opposite end.
