Description
The Gibson 498T Hot Alnico Treble Humbucker Pickup brings high output and strong upper midrange frequencies to the table. This bridge-position pickup, often known as the "hot" counterpart to the 490T, leverages an Alnico 5 magnet to boost gain while delivering enhanced crunch and sustain. With additional coil windings compared to the 490T, this pickup emphasizes upper mids, offering the distinct tones needed for harder rock styles and overdriven amplifier settings.
The 498T’s pole pieces are slightly wider than usual, aligning with bridge string spacing to ensure accurate single-note clarity alongside powerful rhythms and leads. Its four-conductor wiring setup makes it adaptable for coil splitting and other configurations, giving players a versatile tonal palette. Furthermore, the 498T is fully wax-potted to eliminate microphonic feedback.
