This Gibson 80s Explorer pays homage to the iconic design adored by hard rock and metal guitarists worldwide. Despite its debut in 1958, the guitar's futuristic appearance failed to garner commercial success. However, as heavier music gained popularity over the years, so did the allure of the Gibson Explorer, and by the 80s, it had truly come into its own.
Modeled after the highly coveted 1984 version, the Gibson 80s Explorer boasts a mahogany neck with a SlimTaper profile ideal for shredding, as well as an Indian Rosewood fingerboard. The mahogany body is outfitted with 80s Tribute humbucker pickups in the neck and bridge positions, known for their rich tone and exceptional sustain.
The guitar features two volume controls and a master tone, meticulously hand-wired with Orange Drop capacitors for optimal sound clarity. The Nashville tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar, both constructed from aluminum, ensure reliable tuning stability.
This Gibson 80s Explorer comes complete with a hardshell case.
