Description

An icon of Gibson's country roots, the Gibson Country Western 60s Original throws it back to the large-and-in-charge, television-ready '50s and '60s dreadnoughts. The Country Western, an icon of '50s and '60s square-shoulder dreadnoughts, receives a number of striking features and updates in Gibson's Original series from Gibson's Bozeman, Montana luthiers both hearkening to its past and looking to its future.

In the Original series, Gibson's Country Western gets a loving revival for the many (many) square-shoulder devotees of the world. Everything here begins with a Gibson Hummingbird square-shoulder dreadnought body brought together from Sitka spruce and mahogany. This classic combination of tonewoods makes for a masterful balance of chime and bass – just as it did all those years ago. The prominent square-shoulder shape of this dreadnought stands proudly with a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish and an Antique Natural color. Multi-ply top and back binding wraps the body in a clean, geometric accent.

Extending out, this Country Western brings on a mahogany neck in a Round profile. This prominent neck joins the body through compound dovetail neck joint assembly with hot hide glue adhesive for a solid transfer of motion and resonance. A rosewood fingerboard lands with this neck lined with twenty Standard-sized frets for a great balance of spaciousness and articulation. Mother of Pearl Split Parallelogram inlays create an impressive aesthetic pattern across the lush rosewood.

Totally, this Original series model elevates the experience with a number of hardware specifications to top everything off. At the base of the model's 24.75" scale length, a rosewood Belly Up bridge with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins. This stability is matched at the headstock with a bone nut and Gotoh tuning machines. The full experience of this Country Western is translated through exclusive-to-Gibson Baggs HiFi DNA preamp and pickup electronics, wherever you need its big, chiming tones – in the studio or onstage. An included Gibson hardshell case travels with this Original Country Western.

A star in its time and any other, the Country Western rides again in this thoroughly modern Original series entry.
