This Gibson ES Supreme stems from the lineage of the Gibson ES-335, introduced in 1958. The ES Supreme offers a touch of modernity to the expansive history of the ES line.
The original ES models quickly established themselves as a workhorse for guitarists across genres, offering a perfect blend of warm, hollowbody tones and the feedback resistance of a solid-body design. This same semi-hollow construction makes the Gibson ES Supreme ideal for both clean and overdriven sounds, adding to the foundation with premium appointments and a widened sonic palette.
The ES Supreme features a 3-ply body construction. A figured maple, AAA top sits on a core of poplar, sandwiched by another layer of maple. Its neck is carved from mahogany and boasts a classic, rounded “C” profile, topped with a compound radius rosewood fingerboard. On the fingerboard, twenty-two frets are divided by mother-of-pearl Super Split Block inlays, and a Graph Tech nut helps with this guitar's sustain.
Gibson's boundary-pushing designers stocked the ES Supreme with a pickup configuration that expands on the tones of the classic ES platform. This guitar boasts a Gibson Burstbucker Rhythm Pro in the neck position and a Burstbucker Lead Pro in the bridge position. However, both pickups feature push-pull volume controls for coil-splitting, allowing users to access a wider range of single-coil and humbucker sounds. Separate tone controls and a three-way selector switch provide further tonal control.
With its Bourbon Burst finish, the AAA figured maple top boasts a rich, warm brown color that deepens toward its edges, accented by a subtle flame pattern. Gold hardware, including Grover Locking Keystone tuners, an aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, and an aluminum StopBar tailpiece, add to the flair and contrast the finish beautifully.
A hardshell case is included with this instrument.
