Description

A classic of the Gibson acoustic legend, "The Workhorse" gets a refresh with the Gibson J-45 60s Original Fixed Bridge. This J-45 takes some creative liberties with its standby round-shoulder dreadnought – though totally elevated and backed up by quality tonewoods, sturdy hardware, and seamless electronics.

In the Gibson Original series, the J-45 round-shoulder dreadnought gets decked out in modern features both hearkening to its past and looking to its future. Everything here starts, however, with a J-45 round-shoulder dreadnought body brought together from solid Sitka spruce and mahogany. These timeless tonewoods serve as an exceptional base from which the rest of the model's musical experience blooms. Aesthetically, things are kept clean and simple with a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, a warm Vintage Sunburst color, and a tortoise pickguard. Multi-ply binding wraps the edges of this acoustic for a smooth geometric accent.

Reaching out, this J-45 welcomes a mahogany neck in a Round profile. This more prominent neck makes for a fuller feel in hand with a smooth touch no matter where you're playing. Dovetail neck joint assembly brings the neck to the body for a solid transfer of motion and resonance with hot hide glue adhesive. Comfort and speed continues on with this J-45 with a rosewood fingerboard lined with twenty Standard frets – punctuated with understated Mother of Pearl Dot inlays.

Fully, this J-45 backs up its musical experience with a number of sturdy hardware specifications. At the base of the 24.75" scale length, a Belly Up rosewood bridge appears with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins. This solid transfer of motion and intonation is matched toward the headstock with a bone nut and Grover Strap tuning machines. Wherever you take this workhorse, the musical feel is carried over in full thanks to its Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi electronics system. Travel is made all the better with an included hardshell case.

So many years on and the J-45 trots on. No breaks for this Workhorse it seems, but after all this time, it's all but certain it'll never need them!
