Description

The one, the only, "The Workhorse," the Gibson J-45 Original is a vividly vintage acoustic guitar in the lineage of Gibson's flagship round-shoulder dreadnought. The J-45's Jumbo roots show themselves through classic shapes and sounds – only made all the better with modern features and functions.

In Gibson's Original series, Gibson's round shoulder dreadnought gets the red carpet treatment with quality woods and upgraded electronics. However, everything here starts with a J-45 dreadnought body brought together from solid Sikta spruce top and mahogany back and sides. These top-shelf, quality, highly musical tonewoods present a solid foundation from which the rest of the musical experience leaps. Aesthetically, things are kept clean and understated with a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, a Vintage Sunburst color, and a Firestripe pickguard. Multi-ply top binding adds a crisp geometric accent.

Extending out, this J-45 brings on a mahogany neck in a SlimTaper profile. This slim, comfortable neck shape offers smooth trips from lower to higher registers. Dovetail neck joint assembly brings the neck to the body with hot hide glue adhesive for a solid transfer of motion and resonance. The model's rosewood fingerboard additionally provides a comfortable and articulate fretting feel on the fingertips alongside understated Mother of Pearl inlays.

Totally, this Original series dreadnought elevates the whole experience with a number of hardware specifications. At the base of the 24.75" scale length, a Rectangle rosewood bridge lands with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins for sturdy intonation. Near the headstock, a bone nut and Grover Open Back tuning machines appear to offer smooth tuning and stringing experiences. This precise musical setup is translated through Gibson's exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA preamp and pickup electronics. When you're getting to the stage or studio, an included Gibson hardshell case accompanies.

A thoroughly modern version of Gibson's workhorse, this Original series entry brings the timeless Gibson acoustic experience into the modern day.
