This Martin Custom Expert acoustic starts out with a D 14-Fret dreadnought body made up by an Italian alpine spruce top and Wild Grain East Indian rosewood back and sides – the latter of which being hand-selected by our team. These two top-shelf tonewoods summon a robust, rich voice that fills a room with complexity and nuance. Part of the specialty of this hand-selected "D" is its sloped shoulder shape, hearkening to beloved Gibson acoustic guitars of generations past. Visually, this Custom Expert model blooms with European flamed maple body binding and a gloss Aging Toner top color for an aesthetic that shines on larger and smaller scales. Within its sloped shoulder body, the model's Italian alpine spruce is lined with hand-shaped scalloped spruce braces in a forward-shifted X-Brace pattern for bold bass response.

At this point, this Custom Expert "D" dreadnought brings on a select hardwood neck with dovetail neck joint assembly and Martin Modern Adhesive. These modern elements further this guitar's modern playability alongside the neck's satin finish with a Golden Era Modified Low Oval profile with a High Performance taper for an effortless feel in the palm. Matched by an oiled black ebony fingerboard with twenty Standard-sized frets and understated Mother of Pearl inlays, this neck and fingerboard combo is seamless.

To solidify this Custom Shop's whole experience, this sloped shoulder dreadnought features a number of high-quality hardware specifications. At the base of its scale length, a black ebony Golden Era Modern Belly bridge with a drop-in compensated bone saddle lands for a solid connection and transfer string-to-body. Toward the headstock, Grover nickel tuning machines line up with a bone nut for smooth stringing experiences. Visually, this Custom Expert dreadnought features up-close-and-personal flourishes like HD Zig Zag purfling along its Indian rosewood back make it impressive on every scale.
