Martin Custom Shop 0-18K2 CFM IV Concert Acoustic Guitar, Flamed Koa

Jump in the guitar time machine with us and travel back to 1926 – Martin had just started to implement lacquer finishes on their instruments, setting the a new standard for quality and durability. A change that simple has had a lasting effect on Martin guitars and even the greater industry – something worth celebrating! Martin originally started implementing this finish on the concert-sized all-koa models of the '20s, so it's only right this model is constructed from a flamed koa body. Limited to just 100 models worldwide, we're excited to introduce the Martin Custom Shop 0-18K2 CMF IV.

This 12 fretter gets its smaller concert body from a flamed koa top, back, and sides. The koa used on this example are stunning, with vibrant grain patters and beautiful pours. The body is simply decorated with 18 style rosette and purfling, as well as black binding around the body – the wood does all the talking here. The body is structurally supported through X-bracing. A select hardwood neck receives a GE Modified Low Oval profile and High-Performance Taper so easy playing. Joining the body at the 12th fret, the neck is affixed to the body in a traditional set neck fashion with a dovetail neck joint. The neck is topped with a rich ebony fingerboard and that is crowned with 20 frets and detailed with Old Style 18 inlays crafted from abalone.

Strings are carefully loaded into the ebony bridge and are capped with ebony bridge pins. A drop in bone saddle keep the strings evenly spaced and in line before making their way to the open slotted headstock where they are tuned to pitch with the Golden Age Relic Brass tuning machines with cream knobs. The flamed koa headplate sports the Martin O'ahi script logo. Inside the guitar, a "100 Years of Lacquer" paper label is displayed with a pre-printed CFM IV signature and numbered "model #/100." The entire instrument is treated to a vintage gloss lacquer finish, celebrating 100 years of fine craftsmanship, innovation, and attention to detail.
