Martin Custom Shop D Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, 28-Style, Sitka Spruce Bearclaw/Quilted Mahogany

As Martin Custom Expert dealers, Russo Music has had the pleasure of visiting the Martin factory to spec out our own custom guitars, one of them being this stunning Martin Custom Shop D Dreadnought with 28-Style appointments, a Sitka spruce bearclaw top, and a quilted mahogany back and sides. 

Initially developed in 1916 and reappearing with a new design in 1931, Martin created the wildly popular Dreadnought body style that has remained a staple int he acoustic guitar world for decades. The “28-Style” designation references the iconic Martin D-28, while this specific model boasts a handful of custom specs picked out by Russo Music employees. 

The body of this 28-Style Dreadnought is comprised of hand-selected Sitka spruce with bearclaw figuring for its top, and quilted mahogany for its back and sides. Both featuring premium upgrades from their standard contemporaries, the bearclaw pattern found on the top and the quilted figuring of the mahogany make this Dreadnought one that stands out as a unique take on an absolute Martin classic. The top showcases a natural finish with the bearclaw able to take center stage, and the back of the guitar's quilted mahogany, separated by a 28-style purfling, creates an almost "waterfall"-esque pattern. Internally, this D Dreadnought features Forward Shifted X-bracing, a staple of Martin construction.

Attached via a classic Martin dovetail joint, the neck offers a total scale length of 25.4 inches, and 20 total frets- 14 of which are accessible before the neck and body meet. The neck features a Modified Low Oval profile that fits comfortably in the back of the palm, sitting somehwere between a vintage "C" shape and a more modern, slimmer profile. This neck is topped with a black ebony with a 16-inch radius features long Diamond and Square inlays.

A stunning gloss body finish accentuates the natural beauty of this instrument's tonewoods, offering a layer of protection while allowing the wood to breathe freely. The neck, on the other hand, boasts a contrasting satin finish, that works in tandem with its profile to make it extremely comfortable for the left hand.

This guitar comes with a custom molded hard case.
