Description
A limited signature for one of America's most prolific and indescribable songwriters, the Martin Gram Parsons Signature 00-21 is a throwback to the idyllic '60s with all the mystical, home-grown American tones Parsons peddled. In the year of what would have been his eightieth birthday, this limited-edition signature model drops with all the worn-in charm of Parson's original 00-21 replicated. This charmingly vintage 00-12 Fret falls in line with Parson's legacy as one of the great American songwriters, carrying it forward for the players of today.
Throwing it over to more seldom seen Martin features from Parson's original '60s piece, the Gram Parsons Signature 00-21 begins with a compact 00-12 Fret body brought together from old growth Sitka spruce and East Indian rosewood. This classic combination of woods produces a lush and vibrant tone right off the bat in line with a comfortably compact body size. Martin's old growth Sitka spruce is additionally treated to their Vintage Tone System aging process, wherein tonewoods are specially aged to impart an older, lived-in character as if they were decades old. This, in combination with an Aging Toner top color and replicated top wear, makes for a striking recreation of Parson's original 1963 00-21. From within, authenticity and tone becomes all the more real with Adirondack spruce Golden Age scalloped braces in an X-Brace pattern, also treated to Martin's VTS process.
The authenticity continues on with a genuine mahogany neck. Extending out, this neck assumes a replicated form to Parson's original with a satin finish and Standard Taper. Filling the fretting hand comfortably, this neck moves with grace alongside – another seldom-seen Martin feature – an East Indian rosewood fingerboard. Bucking the trend on iconic Martin ebony, a rosewood fingerboard lays out across this neck with twenty frets and period-correct Style 28 Mother of Pearl inlays.
Everything on this classically compact Martin coalesces with sturdy hardware. At the base of the guitar's 24.9" scale length, a period-correct Standard Belly East Indian rosewood bridge with a bone saddle lands for a solid connection string-to-body. Toward the opposite end, a bone nut and nickel Golden Age tuning machines line the model's slotted headstock. A Martin hardshell case travels with this model – limited to eighty pieces worldwide.
Commemorating the legacy of one of folk music's most famous songwriters, this replicated signature sings Parson's song all these years later.
