Description
The Grand Auditorium body shape returns to the standard series with this wonderful Martin M-28. Built on the larger M/0000 14-fret platform, this 6-string offers more power, punch, and oomph. Join us in discovering what all the fuss is about.
The M-28 is constructed from a spruce top and is paired with East Indian rosewood back and sides. The wider lower bout delivers projection and resonance of a larger guitar, while the 000 depth keeps the sound controlled and the body from feeling too bulky in play position. The top features an aging toner gloss finish and is support under the hood by Golden Era scalloped x-bracing – a feature on modern deluxe series instruments. Its back displays a Style 28 with Black Stripe purfling and is wrapped in antique white binding. A faux tortoise pickguard balances everything out.
Affixed to the body at the 14th fret, a select hardwood neck carved to a GE Modified Low Oval profile with high-performance taper is glued into the body in a set-neck fashion with the dovetail neck joint. The neck is incredible comfy and responsive with its satin finished back. The neck is topped with an ebony fingerboard, crowned with 20 frets, and is adorned with abalone diamonds and squares.
Strings are loaded into the ebony bridge and capped in place with the bone bridge pins. A Golden Era Modern Belly bridge style with drop in saddle keep the string spacing locked in, while the nickel open gear tuning machines tune the strings up to pitch. The headstock features an East Indian Rosewood headplate with old style Martin overlay. The M-28 is accompanied by a molded hardshell case.
Welcoming back a larger sound to the Martin Standard Series, we're glad to see the M-28 make its grand return.
