Description
If ambience, haziness, discordance, and introspection sound like your kind of thing, take the Normal Devices Decay Cascade for a whirl! This unique reverb effect blends a harrowing, cavernous reverb with a series of cascading analog amplification stages to stir up a squall of noisy, textural resonations that span from hazy and stormy to peculiarly lo-fi to cataclysmic.
The Decay Cascade homes in on reverb tones primed for scaping sounds, gazing shoes, you get the idea. At its center, the Decay Cascade features a three-way mode toggle that clicks the pedal between three different reverb effect modes – hall, spring, and lo-fi. Give the hall reverb a spin for dim, sulking decay trails. Try spring for splashy, sustaining reverb trails full of body and character. Switch to lo-fi for distinctly wonky and washy bucket brigade delay echo tones. All of these engines are funneled out to the Decay Cascade's parallel distortion channel that can be mixed in to taste for prominent bellows or subtle hints of reverberated distortion.
Normal Devices' flagship effect introduces plenty of other off-the-wall angles from which to shape its reverb. Unique controls for voltage sag gate, '60s-inspired pre-amplification, and an optional low-pass filter introduce new routes to take with the Decay Cascade and inspire mind-bending results. Standard nine-volt power requirements make bringing the Decay Cascade's stormy sounds to your board a breeze.
An effect to stand alone, Normal Devices' Decay Cascade is a strikingly unique reverb to make your proverbial "dark and stormy night" extra dark and extra stormy.
