The S2 McCarty 594 gets its single-cutaway body from a mahogany body that is capped by a asymmetric top carve bevel. A tonewood pairing used for decades, the McCarty offers a mid-focused sound with low end chunk and top end clarity. Sporting a metallic gold tri-color burst, the body is finished with nickel hardware, white plastics, and amber control knobs. A shorter 24.594-inch scale length mahogany neck is affixed to the body in a set-neck design and meets the body at the 16th fret. It's pattern vintage neck profile feels comfortable in the hand and aids to an excellent play experience. The neck is topped by a rosewood fingerboard that is bound with faux bone binding. The fingerboard is crowned with 22 PRS Vintage fret wire and features the famous PRS Birds inlays.

For its voice, a set of PRS 58/15 LT humbucking pickups are loaded into the bridge and neck positions. These low turn pickups are designed to deliver the sweetness of vintage single-coils and the warmth of late '50s humbuckers. Both pickups are crafted with Alnico 2 magnets and output around 7.75K. The controls are complete with 2 volume/2 push/pull tone controls and a 3-way toggle switch.

Strings are loaded through the PRS 2-piece bridge – made of zinc and brass, the bridge has four contact points and added mass for enhanced natural tone and resonance. The strings then rest in the slotted nut slot before strung to pitch by the Phase III Non-Locking Tuners with Wing Buttons.
