From this mentality came Taylor’s Academy series of guitars. The Academy 12 starts with Taylor’s Grand Concert body shape, featuring a solid Sitka Spruce top and layered Sapele back/sides. After that, it features many high-end appointments that aren’t usually found on guitars in this price range, such as a comfortable armrest built into the top of the guitar. The 24-7/8 inch scale allows for ease of playing all over the neck of the guitar, ideal for beginners or anyone looking for a bit more flexibility. The better a guitar feels in your hands, the more you’ll want to play it. That being said, the Academy 12 is basically never going to leave your grasp.
