The Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite Octo Core DSP Accelerator expands mix horsepower with eight SHARC processors dedicated to UAD plug-ins, keeping sessions responsive while you stack premium compressors, EQs, tape, and reverbs at 44.1 to 192 kHz. Insert the same classics you would on a hardware console and let the Satellite shoulder the math so the host CPU can focus on instruments, edits, and video timelines.
Integration is straightforward. Connect, authorize, and instantiate UAD plug-ins in the DAW as you would native effects; processing runs on the Octo’s internal DSP, so buffer sizes and track counts stay manageable even when chains get heavy. Latency behavior suits mixing and sound design. For time-critical tracking with Unison impedance and gain matching, that role remains with Apollo interfaces by design.
Scalability is part of the architecture. Up to six UAD devices can live on one system, allowing a Satellite Octo to join other Satellites and Apollos as a shared pool of DSP. Open a session in another room and the plug-in counts remain consistent because the processing resides on fixed hardware, not whatever OS background tasks decide to do that day.
