The APX600M features a spruce top with locally sourced back, sides, and neck depending on availability, all finished in smoky black. This wood choice demonstrates Yamaha's commitment to sustainability while minimizing environmental impact. X-style bracing supports this guitar's structure and assists in its unplugged resonance, while achieving a pristine plugged in tone is simple as well, with an onboard pickup system installed. The Yamaha APX600M is equipped with a piezo pickup system and a System 65 preamp, that work together to translate the tones of this guitar faithfully into an amplified setting. A convenient onboard tuner is also installed on the body, minimizing the need for additional gear.

The rosewood fingerboard of this guitar features a 15.75" radius, 22 frets, and an overall scale length of 25", combined with a cutaway for easy access to higher frets. Both the nut and saddle are crafted from Urea to help ensure optimal resonance and sustain, and the bridge is cut from rosewood. The APX600M also features a 1.6875" nut width, and die-cast chrome tuning machines.
