Description
Not all those who wander are lost – just take it from the JHS Pedals Wanderer Dual Overdrive! This double-barreled JHS overdrive packs the driving powers of their Morning Glory and NOTAKLÖN overdrives into a streamlined and compact creation. Though if you're a longstanding fan of JHS dual overdrives – and we know you are – plenty of new surprises appear throughout for a double drive that is still blissfully simple but outstandingly open-ended.
The Wanderer dual overdrive follows in the legacy of other JHS doubled-up drive pedals. Where it wanders into exciting, new territories is with a couple of captivating features elevated by a solid foundation of great JHS overdrive circuits. Within, the Wanderer pairs a JHS Morning Glory Bluesbreaker-style transparent overdrive with a JHS NOTAKLÖN "mythical" overdrive. These two drives, one a bona fide legend of the JHS line and the other a newcomer with years of JHS history behind it, combine for a classic combo of overdrive tones. The combination of a transparent "breaker"-style drive and a dirtier "screamer"-style drive is nothing new when it comes to dual overdrive pedals. It's a classic for a reason, after all! However, the combination of two timeless JHS circuits is not where the Wanderer bows out. If anything, it's exactly where it gets started.
This JHS creation differs from past dual overdrives in subtle but impactful ways. A few standby additions to the JHS double-barreled overdrive formula show themselves again like onboard gain stage switches for either drive and an effect order switch. Hit up any of these switches to swap between gain stages or decide which drive will run into the other. What really stands out with the Wanderer is its all-new routing capabilities.
Sharp-eyed readers will notice two input and two output connections on the top of the pedal. Use the right- and left-most connections and the Wanderer operates as your usual two-in-one drive pedal. Use all four connections and utilize the Wanderer with its own makeshift FX loop or with either of its circuits completely independently. What the Wanderer's two other connections allow for is for players to route in any number of external effects between the Morning Glory and NOTAKLÖN. This brings the Wanderer to places dual overdrives have ne'er been before. Grab an effects loop switcher and get truly experimental with your overdrive routing in ways two-in-one pedals have yet been able to. Those long searching for ways to break out their dual overdrives in ultra-modern fashion have found their match with the Wanderer.
These two circuits have wandered the JHS universe endlessly and have just now made contact – and what could be better – they come in peace.
