Along with an LED light that initiates a 4 count to keep loops precise and on time, overdub layers can be controlled with the two footswitches. The controls of the Clone Looper can be enabled further through the addition of an MXR Tap Tempo Switch to control extra features such as half and double loop speed or reverse loops, though these functions can be easily controlled internally. To retain pre-loop signal, the Clone Looper includes an analog through-path while also having control over buffered or true bypass switching to accommodate tone and signal needs.
