Oklahoma City pedal maniacs Old Blood Noise Endeavors are well known for their noise-making creations that break the mold when it comes to effects as we know them. Their newest device defies the laws of the common chorus pedal with the utmost simplicity in design, while allowing for seemingly endless modulation manipulation. It is the Old Blood Noise BL-82 Chorus.
If you're familiar with the OBNE BL-44 Reverse Variable-Clock Reverser released in late 2022, you'll see that the BL-82 Chorus is laid out in the same manner. Three knobs, a slider, an in and an out. If you're looking at it thinking, how could these simple controls create chorus sounds that have never been heard before, don't fret. The nuances live within the tiniest bit of tweaking between settings and the complex relationship between each control parameter.
The BL-82 Chorus features two delay lines. What makes these delays unique is that they are modulated by opposite synchronized LFOs in parallel. Changing the position of the Clock slider will adjust your delay time, as well as the speed and depth of the LFO's. So, recognizable sparkling chorus sounds are certainly achievable, but the real tone-chaser fun begins when you find the Clock's sweet spot(s) in conjunction with the wet/dry mix and the Feedback control. The Feedback controls the effects intensity, and the amount of the delay's repeats. The more you fiddle around, you'll find how unpredictable the modulation can become. Dialing these settings in along with the overall Volume control to find your favorite unexpected tones is one trip you'll never tire of.
Now with over 25 effects and utilitarian devices in their line, the Old Blood Noise Endeavors BL-82 Chorus joins the noise-making-brigade with its own unique personality and characteristics, ready to make new friends on your pedalboard and inspire all sorts of new sounds.
