New from Summer Namm 2016 is the Mondegreen Digital Delay pedal by Old Blood Noise.
Over the past couple of years, the pedal community has been fortunate enough to have access to many newer, different takes on the delay pedal. The Old Blood Noise Mondegreen (apropos of its name) is the latest addition to join the circle and somehow, someway offers yet another unique take on this effect.
This digital delay has three distinct and usable modes for both those who don’t like to venture outside their musical comfort zones, and explorers alike.
First you have the Stutter mode which is akin to hearing your notes starve and break up with each repeat gasping more and more. Next is Whirl; a modulation that sound wise, is reminiscent of a light vibrato trying to escape from a viscous liquid. Last is the Sheer mode in which your repeat notes sounds somewhere in between a shimmer and a chimey pitch shifting upwards.
The four knobs (time, feedback, mix, and morph) along with the expression pedal jack allows you to really dial in/test the boundaries of this wonderful device. The pedal also does not self-oscillate so it makes a great addition (and companion) for anyone that already has a delay or two that has a momentary switch for this feature or wants something that can handle a ton of repeats/feedback while staying clean.
This delay is not a replacement for anything you already have on your board; it’s an addition.
