Description
In a world of transistors, op-amps, and chips, what ever happened to humble tape saturation? With the Strymon La Brea Analog Tape Drive, the hungry tape fiends of the world finally have an answer. The La Brea, a spiritual offshoot of Strymon's beloved Deco tape-style double-tracker and saturator, utilizes full analog design to take tape saturation where it's never gone before. Commit this drive to memory. Get it on tape.
Strymon's Series A line of effects has introduced robust, fully-analog designs taking on classic effects in new ways. The La Brea tackles the topic of tape saturation with a striking analog design spurred on by Strymon's existing expertise in the field from their Deco pedal. This all-analog drive utilizes multi-stage tape saturation techniques to create a vast spectrum of drive tones from smooth breakup to fuzz flamethrowing. A streamlined design coupled with close tonal mixing means the La Brea is ready to perform on the largest and smallest levels from tinkering in the studio to stealing the limelight onstage.
The La Brea features a straightforward control scheme that centers around a push-and-pull between the pedal's Tape Saturation control and its Dry mix control. Balancing the unique gain structure of tape saturation and the clarity of the rest of your signal path, the La Brea offers the ability to shape your tone as you see fit. Onboard switches shape gain character and high-end frequency structure alongside internal 24V operation for high headroom. Altogether, the La Brea keeps it clean and simple for its unique tape drives.
A fully analog drive dedicated to the long, long legacy of tape, there's a reason this is a pedal you won't forget soon.
