Synth and Sequence
Perhaps the most matchless concepts in synthesizers and electronic music come from Sweden's Teenage Engineering, founded by Jesper Kouthoofd, David Eriksson, Jens Rudberg and David Möllerstedt. The company had its initial forming in the mid-2000s and introduced their first product – the groundbreaking OP-1 - at the 2010 NAMM show.
Besides their flagship, Teenage Engineering offers the popular Pocket Operator series - 16-step sequencers that put music making in anybody's hands. These ever-favorite pocket operators were launched in 2015. Nine Pocket Operators are currently available, and up to ten can be run at one time, with varying sounds between units – from drum and bass to noise and ambience. Accessories including cases, attachments, and cables are available to enhance unit performance potential.
You’ll find popular artists including Bon Iver, Thom Yorke, and Caroline Rose who have put their trust in Teenage Engineering products.
OP-1, The Teenage Engineering Synth
Teenage Engineering's OP-1 has been regarded as an eighth wonder of the world by synth enthusiasts - and truly anyone with or without a musical background that spends time with one. It is a NASA-grade aluminum synthesizer, sequencer, and audio recorder able to push any creative envelope, and portable enough to fit in the pocket of a pair of Levi 501s. It is not uncommon to find batches of OP-1s sold out before the boxes are open. Teenage Engineering has the world now anxiously awaiting the arrival of its follow up: the OP-Z (that’s "Zed"), which will offer 3D graphic arrangement capabilities through iOS device integration. The OP-Z is in its final beta testing stages and soon to launch to market.
