Introduced in the early '70s, the Gibson 496R pickup fit the need for more powerful humbucking tones that would later go on to energize and define '70s hard rock and heavy metal music. Its powerful ceramic magnet delivers lasting sustain and an impactful kick with added highs and a more focused definition – free of muddiness in the signal. This pickup, when matched with a ceramic pickup such as the 500T in the bridge position, loses no definition in its overall character. The 496R features neck-spaced pole pieces and shielded four-conductor wiring for parallel, series or split-coil operation – as well as full wax-potting to eliminate microphonic feedback.

Paired with the 496R's definition, the Gibson 500T Super Ceramic Humbucker screams and growls with excellent tone. Utilizing three-ceramic magnets, this monstrous humbucker covers plenty of ground to make for a versatile playing experience combining clear highs and defined lows. Just like the 496R, the 500T is designed with shielded four-conductor wiring for series, parallel, or split-coil operation. This treble pickup is also outfitted with wax potting to defeat microphonic feedback.
