Short Answer:
Fender electric guitars are produced principally in Corona, California and Ensenada, Mexico. New American-made models come from Fender's flagship factory in Corona while many other series are produced in Fender's Mexican factory.
Long Answer:
It's no surprise that a company with such Californian roots would still call the great Golden State home. Fender's electric guitar production, historically always centered around America's west coast, remains mainly established in California. The company splits its mainline guitar production between its Corona, California and Ensenada, Mexico factories.
Fender produces a wide line of electric guitar series between these two factories. The Corona factory is home to Fender's "American" series of guitars – among them, the Fender American Professional, Fender American Ultra, and Fender American Performer. These Corona, California-made guitars are commonly where Fender shows off new designs and developments that later get adopted in other series. The Ensenada factory produces other Fender series such as the Fender Player Series and the Fender Vintera Series. Occasionally, new Fender guitars can be found produced in Japan, commonly denoted by a "MIJ" distinction, though these days, Japanese Fender guitars are usually restricted to limited releases.
No matter where you find your Fender, you're playing with a musical legacy generations in the making!
