Today, MXR pays tribute to one of electric guitar's most legendary players with the MXR Randy Rhoads Special Edition Concorde Distortion+. The Concorde Distortion+, a pedal designed in collaboration with the Rhoads family to commemorate the guitarist's legacy, releases today in a limited run for fans of Rhoads and the thrilling musicality he's come to represent.
The MXR Randy Rhoads Special Edition Concorde Distortion+ pairs two musical elements representing Rhoads. One of these elements, the MXR Distortion+ circuit, forms the heart of this release with a replicated MXR Distortion+ circuit as taken from Rhoads' original pedal. The pedal, provided to MXR from Rhoads' sister Kathy, was the original used to drive Rhoads' signature, high-gain, saturated sound. The second of these two elements, the Concorde art design, derives from an original design drafted by Rhoads for his signature Jackson Rhoads guitar while flying on a Concorde jet during a tour with Ozzy Osbourne. Such a design manifests with the pedal's vintage white color, pinstripe accents, and gold details.
