The Roland VQD106 V-Drums Quiet Design kit redefines electronic drumming at home, setting a new standard for silent performance. Developed through years of acoustic engineering and real-world testing, this full electronic kit includes purpose-built pads, cymbals, and hardware aimed at drastically reducing in-room and structural noise. It’s the quietest electronic drum set Roland has ever made, designed specifically for musicians who need a professional-level practice solution without disturbing those nearby.
At the core of the VQD106 are reimagined drum pads with noise-absorbing honeycomb rubber, mesh tops, and vented undersides to reduce air compression and stick noise. The PDQ-8S snare features dual triggers and a soft rubber rim, while the toms maintain excellent stick response and rebound. Cymbals are similarly treated—three CYQ-12 pads provide independent bow and edge triggers, natural motion, and manual muting. Hi-hat response comes courtesy of the FD-9 controller pedal, a known favorite for its silent mechanical operation.
The KDQ-8 kick drum pad brings the feel of a traditional beater strike without the volume, thanks to a triple-layered cushion, double mesh, and a floating frame design. It’s paired with the KDB-Q beater to reduce contact noise even further. Beneath the pads, stand isolation is handled by specialized hemispherical feet, while both the NEQ-K and NEQ-H pedal bases feature sound-isolating construction that prevents low-frequency thumps from traveling through the floor.
Rounding out the kit, the TD-07 module includes 25 preset kits and 143 instruments, with deep customization options for sound design and layering. Integrated Bluetooth and USB connectivity support audio playback, MIDI recording, and DAW control, while built-in practice tools and support for Melodics make the VQD106 equally suitable for performance, home recording, and skill development.
