It’s difficult to think about the existence of heavy metal without picturing Tony Iommi, guitar in hand, melting his fretboard while making every move to the next note seem easier than the last. There is no question that his innovation in rock music paved the way for countless artists, genres, and subgenres after his burst on to the scene. He did have some help, though. Yes, his ‘64 Gibson SG we all wanted to rip from his hands at one point or another, and probably still do.
Lucky for us, Epiphone has made this possible, without having to steal Tony’s guitar. The Epiphone Tony Iommi SG Lefty in Vintage Cherry is modeled after his heavily modified Gibson SG, and it is quite the package direct from the factory. PRO P-90 pickups boast a wide range of bright, high output tones. And what helps these P-90’s get there? High quality CTS potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors hide inside the 2-piece solid-mahogany body, ensuring that all your nuances in articulation and volume control come through the mix just as they should. If that weren’t enough, know that you can rely on its intonation and tuning stability thanks to its wraparound adjustable bridge paired with a graph tech nut, just beneath its Grover Rotomatic tuning machines.
Complete with an included hardshell case with Tony’s “Monkey” sticker, this SG is stage ready in every way.
