There aren't many bass players who revolutionized the instrument like the way Jaco Pastorius did. His signature "Bass of Doom" has become an icon in the bass world due to Jaco's many modifications to his '62 Fender Jazz Bass such as removing the frets and sealing the fretboard with clear epoxy, giving it the feel of an upright bass.
This Fender Custom Shop tribute piece aims to faithfully recreate this bass for anybody who dares enter into Jaco's world. This bass features the same fretless round-lam, epoxied coated fretboard as the original. It also sports a reliced nitro lacquer 3-color sunburst finish with open screw holes where the pickguard and former bridge used to be on Jaco's original bass. Lastly, the Jazz Bass control knobs have been swapped out in favor of beefier knurled chrome P Bass knobs.
This particular instrument is a 2020 Custom Shop model in excellent condition. The finish seemingly has no wear outside of its intentional relicing and neither does the epoxied fretboard. It comes with the original vintage style black hard shell case and all its corresponding candy.
