You've got to stack it up with the Browne Amplification The Protein V4 Dual Overdrive. This pedal, a product of a collaboration between David Brown and Adam Sniegowski, visualizes a classic, two-in-one stacked overdrive pedal while creating something that sounds good though anything and addressing some of the tonal quirks that can come with the usual drive-stacking formula. With this direction at the helm, we're off.
The Browne Amplifications The Protein V4 is a forward-thinking, expressive and reliable two-in-one overdrive pedal dedicated to the art of gain stacking. Combining two thoroughly exciting overdrive circuits under two footswitches, the Protein V4 is a dream for players who forever pine after a headache-less dual overdrive. On one side of the pedal, the Protein's "Blue" side, we have a classic overdrive circuit perfect for your bluesy breakup – you know the type: everything a little bit beefier, a little more pushed, a little more exciting. This is matched with the "Green" side's "Nashville" circuit, a definitively heated and screaming circuit meant for going more over-the-top.
Together, the Protein's stacked configuration runs the green side into the blue, making for a beautifully punched-up pair of overdrives. These two overdrives together differ from traditional stacked overdrive combos by design, with a refined direction and greater clarity as priorities in the signal's design. Fullness and clarity appear as prominent characteristics of either drive, making the combination of both a wonderful thing to experience. A three-way hi-cut toggle allows for closer shaping of the drives' top end while three internal switches enable the close customization of the signal for those truly dedicated.
Teamwork makes the dream work, we suppose – in design and drives!
