Fender Custom Shop '51 Telecaster Journeyman Relic Electric Guitar, Super Aged Daphne Blue

It's a-one for the money and a-two for the show with this Fender Custom Shop '51 Telecaster in a smooth Super Aged Daphne Blue! This charming, '50s-style Tele struts its stuff with specifications throwing back to Fender's earliest days and its coveted "no-named," single-cutaway models. Unabashedly retro specs bloom throughout this custom model for a guitar with style to spare.

The musical equivalent of a ride in a classic car with all its appointments, this Fender Custom Shop lays it all out with glamour. Everything here starts with a solidbody brought together by two-piece, off-center ash. This treble-side-seam ash body throws it back to Fender's earliest bodies with a "sorted for weight" quality, where the ash cut was selected during construction for its light weight. Bright and resonant, this ash body contributes to the entire instrument comfortably landing midway between seven and eight pounds.

Along with its great character as a tonewood, this ash cut serves as an excellent base on which a Super Aged gloss lacquer finish and Journeyman Relic treatment can be splashed. Journeyman Relic, among the most popular Relic levels from the Custom Shop, treats the guitar's lacquer finish to moderate level of age and wear. More character moves throughout this Custom Shop creation with an absence of grain filler and a presence of dirty finish checking for a compelling aesthetic up-close-and-personally.

From here, this Custom Shop brings on a quartersawn AA flame maple neck in a 1951 "U" profile. Filling the hand with a retro-inspired "baseball-bat"-style feel, this "U" profile measures with custom dimensions from .845" thick at the first fret to .900" at the twelfth. The neck's unfinished Relic back exposes its deep flame maple grain streaking closely. Filling out to a fingerboard bearing twenty-one frets with 6105 Narrow Tall fretwire, this Tele presents a precise and articulate fretting feel on the fingers. Bucking the exclusive vintage sensibilities of this model, the guitar's fingerboard measures with a compound radius from a round 7.25" near the nut to a flat 12" toward the body.

Sonically, this Daphne Blue Telecaster punches in with two hand-wound single-coil pickups. A hand-wound '51 Nocaster single-coil in both positions summons a punchy, vintage-style single-coil sound reminiscent of some of Fender's earliest single-cut creations. Shaped through Modified '51 Nocaster wiring, these pickups snap with classic Fender character. Sturdy hardware specifications including a bone nut, Vintage-Style tuning machines, and a barrel saddle 51-54 Tele bridge. This Custom Shop Telecaster travels with a Fender Custom Shop Strat/Tele Tweed hardshell case.
